Sustainability

How I practice Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Photography

Being a photographer means my work often takes me into beautiful natural environments.

I share a responsibility to protect the natural beauty in the landscapes I capture, this means operating with sustainability at the core of Fallen Leaf Photography.

Take a look at the key steps I take to be an eco-friendly photographer, from the equipment I use, to delivering your final images.

Equipment & Consumption

I invest in high-quality, durable equipment, not just for professional results, but because they will last longer and reduce the need for frequent replacements, meaning less waste and a smaller manufacturing footprint over time.

I only use rechargeable batteries and source equipment made from eco-friendly materials where possible.

Devices are turned off when not in use to preserve battery life and the need for regular recharging, as well as using energy/power saving settings on devices.

Eco-Conscious Workflow & Delivery

Fallen Leaf Photography operates digitally, communications and bookings are made electronically to significantly reduce paper consumption.

The standard method of image delivery is via online gallery instead of physical prints to save resources. Where physical prints are ordered, I partner with businesses that only use recycled papers and inks.

All physical products I deliver are wrapped in recyclable or minimal packaging.

I avoid unnecessary plastics in favour of eco-friendly alternatives.

Environmental Considerations

Reducing my carbon footprint by making conscious choices about shooting locations and travelling. I recommend local shooting locations to reduce the need for long periods of driving.

Practicing the "Leave No Trace" rule, when outdoors, I strictly adhere to staying on trails and not disturbing wildlife or plant life, and leaving no rubbish behind.
